The NFL has 32 teams and they are divided equally with 16 teams into different conferences, which are called the National Football Conference and the American Football Conference. The two groups are more commonly known as the NFC and AFC. Each conference is made up of four divisions with four teams in each group. From this list, you can locate your favorite team to place bets on. Also, check out our list of the top NFL betting sites.

NFC FOOTBALL TEAMS

EAST

Outside of the Cowboys, the three teams from this group reside on the East Coast. NFL Teams fun fact -- Philadelphia is the only team that actually plays in the city of its name. The Giants venue is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey and the Redskins play outside of the nation's capital in Landover, Maryland. The aforementioned Cowboys don't play in Dallas, rather outside of the area in Arlington, Texas.

  • Dallas Cowboys
  • New York Giants
  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • Washington Commanders

WEST

Three of the four teams in this division play in the Pacific Time Zone, while Arizona uses Mountain Standard Time Zone. Since the format went to four divisions in 2002, this group of NFL Teams is only one of two divisions to have all four teams appear in the Super Bowl at least once. The Rams have moved back and forth from St. Louis, Missouri a couple times and recently landed in Los Angeles for the 2016 NFL season.

  • Arizona Cardinals
  • Los Angeles Rams
  • San Francisco 49ers
  • Seattle Seahawks

NORTH

This group used to be called the NFC Central, considered one of the toughest in football and that's because the teams had to brave the weather elements in the second-half of the season. All four teams reside in the Midwest of the United States and three of the four play in Central Time Zone, while Detroit plays in Eastern Time Zone. The Vikings and Lions don't have to worry about weather anymore since the pair both play indoors. Meanwhile, Chicago and Green Bay still host games at the legendary venues of Soldier Field and Lambeau Field respectively.

  • Chicago Bears
  • Detroit Lions
  • Green Bay Packers
  • Minnesota Vikings

SOUTH

The South is the other division to have all four teams earn a trip to the Super Bowl since the 2002 realignment. The four clubs play in the Southeastern part of the United States and two of the teams - New Orleans, Atlanta -- play their games indoors.

  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Carolina Panthers
  • New Orleans Saints
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers

AFC FOOTBALL TEAMS

EAST

This group is very similar to the NFC East, where three of the teams are located in the same region while Miami is much farther south in Florida. Also similar to their NFC counterparts, none of the teams play in their actual cities either. The Bills play in Orchard Park, while the Patriots don't play in Boston, rather Foxborough. The Jets share a venue with the Giants, which is called MetLife Stadium. The New England Patriots have dominated this group recently, racking up a record number of division titles.

  • Buffalo Bills
  • Miami Dolphins
  • New England Patriots
  • New York Jets

WEST

Plenty of rivalries in this group even though there has been plenty of movement. The Broncos and Chiefs have been solid staples in this quartet, playing in the same city and creating great support from fans. The same can't be said for the Chargers or Raiders. Los Angeles recently got a franchise in 2017, when San Diego decided to leave the city. The Chargers will be sharing a new venue with the Rams in the NFC. Meanwhile, the Las Vegas franchise will debut in the 2020 season from Nevada after playing previously in Oakland.

  • Denver Broncos
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Los Angeles Chargers
  • Las Vegas Raiders

NORTH

These four NFL teams are the closest group in terms of geography and two of the teams play in the same state, Ohio. The Bengals and Browns are separated by hours, plus Pittsburgh isn't far from the pair. Baltimore is located closer to the East Coast but still a manageable flight from all three divisional foes.

  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Cincinnati Bengals
  • Cleveland Browns
  • Pittsburgh Steelers

SOUTH

The AFC South was formed in 2002, taking two former teams from the previous AFC divisions known as the Central and East. The Indianapolis Colts are the longest standing franchise of the four, while the other three teams are fairly new. The Houston Texans were the last franchise to join the NFL, doing so in 2002. The Texans and Colts both have the ability to play indoors, with their venues owning retractable roofs.
