Betting on the Minnesota Timberwolves

The NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves are a popular betting option as one of four professional sports franchises in that state. Each team represents the four biggest betting leagues in the legal US sports betting market.

Minnesota Timberwolves Team Overview

The Timberwolves joined the NBA as an expansion franchise. Minnesota made its debut in the 1989/1990 season. As expected with a brand new team, the early years were lean when it came to winning games.

That all changed in 1996 with the arrival of Kevin Garnett. He would go on to be the most prominent NBA player in the history of this franchise.

Playing out of the Northwest Division in the league’s Western Conference, Garnett led the Timberwolves to their first postseason appearance in 1997. The team made the playoffs each of the next six seasons with quick exits in the opening round.

Behind Garnett and a stronger supporting cast, Minnesota advanced all the way to the Western Conference Finals the following season in the team’s best performance in franchise history.

Unfortunately, the 2003/2004 campaign makes up most of the highlight reel for this team. Minnesota has only qualified for the playoffs once in the last 17 seasons. That lone appearance in 2018 quickly ended with a first round series loss.

The new face of the organization has been Karl-Anthony Towns, but he has been fighting an uphill battle during his seven seasons with the Timberwolves.

The betting edge with this team would be on the NBA total line. For example in the 2021-2022 season: through 51 games, 30 of those contests had gone over the closing betting line for the game’s total.

Betting on the Timberwolves in Minnesota
