Betting on the Arizona Wildcats

Things took a turn for the worst for Arizona at the end of Sean Miller’s tenure.

But now, the team is back on track, and bettors are back at the window to put their money on the high-octane Wildcats.

Arizona Wildcats Men’s Basketball History

The golden age of Arizona men’s basketball began under Coach Lute Olsen in the early 1980s. After missing the tournament in his first season as the head-man, Olsen never missed it again in 25 years as head coach.

During his tenure, Arizona made four Final Fours, appeared in two national championships, and won one of them.

In 1997, the Wildcats made their third trip to the Final Four in search of their first title. They were the only non-one-seed in the Final Four and took out two of the sport’s most notorious programs: North Carolina and Kentucky.

That year, Arizona reached its peak under Olsen’s leadership and the stellar play of stars Mike Bibby, Jason Terry, Miles Simon, and Michael Dickerson.

A few years later in 2001, a Wildcats team led by Gilbert Arenas and Richard Jefferson returned to the national championship game.

This time, however, it couldn’t take out another blue-blood as it fell to Coach K and Duke.

A few years after Olsen’s last season, Arizona hired Sean Miller. Miller was an excellent recruiter and brought in top-rated high school players like Aaron Gordon, Lauri Markkanen, and Deandre Ayton.

With a pair of Elite 8 runs to show for his efforts, Miller’s run came to end amidst an NCAA scandal in 2021.

Arizona professional sports teams have been aggressive in forming partnerships with legal sportsbooks. The Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, and Arizona Coyotes have all solidified deals with sportsbook operators.

If the University of Arizona boards that train, fans could one day walk into the McKale Center and place a wager on their team that may look like this:

·        Arizona -7.5

·        Arizona State +7.5

In this example, the Wildcats are favored by 7.5 points over the Sun Devils. If the Wildcats win by 8 or more points, they cover the spread.

If the Wildcats win by fewer than 8, or if they lose to their rival, they do not cover the spread.
